Civitan Club of
the Berkshires
Big on Hands-On Service
We are an all-volunteer, non-profit, service organization where members have an organized way of approaching local community needs through hands-on service and fundraising.

Our Mission
The Civitan Club of the Berkshires, which has been in existence since 1957, is a Chapter of Civitan International, a worldwide association of local community service clubs whose mission is to strengthen local communities by providing a network of volunteers dedicated to serving individual and community needs, with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.
We help local charities in more ways than just writing a check. We look for opportunities in the community where our volunteerism can be of most value by selecting projects at our local club level.
What We Do

Food drive programs developed in response to COVID19 concerns have ensured that our membership remains engaged in the community and supports local food pantries that might otherwise be closing their doors. We also feed our community through collaboration with the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield's quarterly Feed My Sheep program and the Salvation Army's monthly dinner program for those in need.

Know Your Berkshires, our monthly educational program on Pittsfield Community Television is produced and hosted by Civitan volunteers to showcase Berkshire County non-profits to our community.

Civitan members volunteer time and resources to perform service throughout our community.

Annual SoupFest
In 2006, The Civitan Club of Pittsfield planned and held the 1st Annual “SoupFest”, a fundraising effort geared toward helping local soup kitchens and food pantries to stock their shelves. The event is held at the Berkshire Hills Country Club, is attended by 250-300 people and features tasty soups from approximately 20 of the area's finest restaurants and culinary programs. Appetizers, desserts and entertainment are also featured to help round out the event. Prizes, silent auction items donated by area businesses plus our “Feed Our Towns Raffle” help to provide additional fundraising.
Annual Projects
Westside Community Celebration Day
Held in collaboration with The Christian Center each year, Civitan volunteers set up a barbeque and provide, prepare and serve food to approximately 150-300 attendees.
Meals for Elderly & Shut-in's
Our Christmas Eve meal to elderly and shut-in's, held in collaboration with Elder Services and the Berkshire County Sheriff's Office, feeds between 100-150 people annually. We invite you to learn more and lend your support.

With the aim of helping as many people as possible, we seek enthusiastic volunteers. Please contact us for more information about becoming a Civitan volunteer.
